Instructions for using our all-natural wood care products for protecting your cutting boards, butcher blocks and hard wood products.

CLEANING YOUR WOOD

Nobody likes dirty wood...so always maintain strict hygiene standards when it comes to cutting boards and butcher blocks, or whatever type of wood you are cleaning.

  1. Start by gathering the necessary materials: MorningWood Co. Wood Wash and a clean, soft cloth.
  2. Scrape or wipe off any loose food particles, juices or debris.
  3. Shake the Wood Wash to mix the contents. Rotate the nozzle tip from off and set to spray. Then liberally coat the entire surface of the board until it is saturated.
  4. Fold your soft cloth in half and use one side to scrub the entire surface of the board using a circular motion. For stubborn areas, use a white Scotchbrite pad.
  5. Using another section of the soft cloth, wipe away any residual Wood Wash.
  6. Dry the cutting board or butcher block top with a clean towel or allow it to air dry completely before proceeding to the next step.
Wood Wash is formulated to not excessively dry out your chopping block and remove the of the natural oils.

LUBING YOUR WOOD

What's almost worse than dirty wood? Dry wood. Dry wood can lead to splitting and cracking which can let germs and unfriendly things into your wood.

  1. Ensure the cutting board or butcher block top is completely dry before proceeding.
  2. Vigorously shake the bottle of MorningWood Co. Wood Lube.
  3. Twist the pump dispenser open. Pump an ample amount of Wood Lube on to your wood surface.
  4. Using a small square of the white Scotchbrite pad, work the lube into the wood using a circular motion. Make sure to lube all sides of the wood.
  5. Allow the Wood Lube to penetrate in to the wood for at least 10 minutes. Remember, longer is better.
  6. If the board appears to have absorbed the Wood Lube quickly, you may apply a second coat for optimal moisturization.
  7. Wipe off any excess Wood Lube with a clean cloth or paper towel.

WAXING YOUR WOOD

If someone tells you that waxing your wood is wrong, well; then tell them they are out of their mind. Protected wood keeps all kinds of nasty things away.

  1. After lubing your wood, cutting board or butcher block top, you can further protect the wood by applying MorningWood Co. Wood Wax.
  2. Ensure the board is clean and dry before proceeding.
  3. Using a white Scotchbrite pad, paper towel or clean cloth, scoop out a generous amount of Wood Wax.
  4. Begin rubbing the wax into the wood using a circular motion. Be sure to cover all sides of the board.
  5. Allow the Wood Wax to sit on the surface for a few minutes.
  6. Once the wax has set, buff the board with a clean, dry cloth, applying light pressure to create a shine.
  7. If desired, you can repeat the process of applying Wood Wax to achieve a more durable protective layer.

Caring for your hard wood products is essential for long term usability. Just a little bit of care will go a long way in making sure your cutting board or butcher block will bring you years of use.
